Terms of use
Last updated 11 October 2026
These terms are the agreement between you and Plum when you use the Plum apps, the web app at app.getplumjobs.com, or this website. By creating an account or using Plum you agree to them. Please read them along with our privacy policy.
In short
- Plum helps you find jobs and write applications. You apply yourself, on the employer's own site.
- Plum isn't a recruiter or an employer, and isn't part of the Civil Service or the NHS.
- What you write and send is yours, and so is the responsibility for it being true.
- AI suggestions can be wrong. Check them before you use them.
- Your rights as a consumer under UK law aren't affected by anything here.
1. What Plum is, and isn't
Plum matches you to UK Civil Service, NHS and other public sector jobs, and helps you prepare applications and practise interviews.
- Plum doesn't apply for jobs on your behalf. You submit every application yourself, through the employer's own process.
- Plum isn't a recruitment agency or an employer, and isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, the Civil Service, the Civil Service Commission, the NHS or any employer whose jobs it shows.
- Job listings come from public sources. They can change, close early or contain mistakes. Always check the official listing for the deadline, requirements and how to apply before relying on what Plum shows.
- We can't promise that Plum will find you a job, an interview, or a particular result.
2. Your account
- You must be 16 or over to use Plum.
- Give accurate details, and keep access to your email account secure, because that's how you sign in.
- An account is for one person. Don't use someone else's account, or set one up for someone without their permission.
- You can delete your account at any time in You → Account & privacy.
3. Your content
Your CV, answers, stories, statements and anything else you add stay yours. You give us permission to store and process them, including with the AI services listed in our privacy policy, only to provide Plum to you. That permission ends when you delete them or your account.
You're responsible for what you put into Plum and for what you send to employers. In particular:
- only add content you have the right to use, and don't upload other people's personal data without their permission;
- applications must describe your own experience truthfully. Civil Service and NHS employers can reject or withdraw offers if an application is untrue;
- some employers have rules on using AI in applications. Check them and follow them.
4. AI suggestions
Matches, fit scores, CV checks, interview feedback and drafted wording are produced with AI. They're suggestions to help you, not advice or guarantees. They can be incomplete or wrong, and can describe your experience in ways that aren't accurate. Read everything Plum writes, change what isn't right, and use your own judgement before you send it.
5. Using Plum fairly
Don't:
- break the law, or use Plum to deceive an employer or anyone else;
- scrape, copy or resell Plum's job data, matches or content, or access Plum with bots or automated tools;
- try to get into accounts or systems that aren't yours, get around limits or charges, or disrupt the service;
- reverse engineer the apps, except where the law allows it;
- upload anything harmful, such as malware.
If you do, we may suspend or close your account. Where it's reasonable, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to put it right.
6. Plums
Some features use Plums, Plum's in-app credits. Finding matches stays free.
- Before you spend Plums, the app shows what a feature costs. Some features include free uses.
- Plums can be used only for features in Plum. They have no cash value, can't be exchanged for money, and can't be transferred to someone else.
- If a paid feature fails, or it says it refunds when it finds nothing better, the Plums go back to your balance automatically.
- When buying Plums becomes available, you'll buy them through the App Store, Google Play or our website. That store's payment terms apply too, and refunds go through that store where its rules require.
- Your legal rights to a refund for faulty digital content or services are not affected.
- If you delete your account, any Plums left go with it. If we close Plum, we'll give you reasonable notice, and refund any Plums you paid for and haven't used.
7. Changes to Plum and to these terms
Plum is new and will change. We may add, change or remove features. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Plum and delete your account.
8. Ending
You can stop using Plum and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, or close Plum altogether with reasonable notice.
9. Our responsibility to you
We'll provide Plum with reasonable care and skill. If we break these terms, we're responsible for losses you suffer that were a foreseeable result of that.
We're not responsible for:
- decisions employers make, or the result of any application;
- mistakes in job listings from public sources, or listings that change or close;
- losses caused by what you choose to submit, including AI wording you didn't check;
- business losses. Plum is for personal job seeking.
Otherwise, our total responsibility to you is limited to the greater of what you've paid us in the 12 months before the claim and £100.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. Nothing here affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your local courts. If something goes wrong, please contact us first. Most things can be sorted out quickly.
